ORDINANCE NO. 70-89 By: Brown, Gallagh. er, Gazzana, George, Graham, Wendlin AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to amend Section 1304.01 of 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of electrical Chapter the City of Lak~wood providing for standards for materials and installations. WHEREAS, the 1987 National Electrical Code has been amended, and WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Lakewood that Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood be amended to the 1990 National Electrical Code, WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the further reason that the National Electrical Code, as amended, will go into effect on January 1, 1990 and such amendments should be adopted and become effective by that date; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Section 1304.01 of Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 1304.01 ADOPTING; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. Pursuant to the provisions of the Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National Electrical Code, being particularly the 1987 edition thereof, designated ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1987, is hereby adopted by the City and incorporated by reference as a part of the Building Code of the City of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or deleted. The purpose of a National Electrical Code as adopted herein is the practical safeguarding of persons, buildings and dwellings, and their contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for heat, light and power and for other purposes. shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 1304.01 ADOPTION; IDENTIFY AND PURPOSE. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this Ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council and that all such deliberations of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings held in compliance with all legal requirements.
