<br />salaries of the anm~ ....
<br />of Police of the Department of r.~D].ic Safety, except the chief of
<br />Police, effective January 1, 1990, and repealing all other
<br />ordinances or parts of ordinances inconsistent therewith.
<br /> WHEREAS~ this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure
<br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health,
<br />safety, and welfare, and for the usual daily operation of a
<br />municipal department in that in the interests of the public
<br />welfare and safety it is necessary to create positions and fix
<br />the compensation of employees; now, therefore,
<br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br /> Section 1. Positions are hereby created and the
<br /> compensation of the annual salaried sworn personnel in the
<br /> Division of Police, Department of Public Safety, with the
<br /> exception of the Chief of Police, shall be as follows effective
<br /> January 1, 1990, pursuant to the terms of the agreement between
<br /> the City of Lakewood and Western Cuyahoga Lodge No. 25, Fraternal
<br /> Order of Police, Lakewood Division.

<br /> Section 2. In the Division of Police, Department of
<br />Public Safety, Grade 1 Patrol officer shall consist of Patrol
<br />officers who have continuously served in the Division of Police
<br />four (4) full years or who, in the judgement of the Director of
<br />Public Safety, have acquired equivalent training and acquired
<br />experience in the Division of Police in some other city. Grade 2
<br />Patrol offiCer shall consist of Patrol officers who have served
<br />continuously in the Division of Police for .more than two (2)
<br />years but less than four (4) years. Grade 3 Patrol officer
<br />shall consist of Patrol officers who have served in the Division
<br />of Police for less than two (2) years. Provided, however, that
<br />there shall be no increase in salary to any employee by reason of
<br />the said grouping until certified by the Director of 'Public
<br />Safety.
<br /> Section 3. Notwithstanding the other provisions
<br /> contained in this ordiance and in consideration of the Collective
<br /> Bargaining Agreement referred to abovel in addition to the salary
<br /> specified herein, any sworn personnel who are exempt from
<br /> representation by the reconized bargaining unit shall be entitled
<br /> to any and all benefits afforded the members of such bargaining
<br /> unit. Such provision shall apply to the Chief of Police save for
<br /> overtime benefits to which the chief of Police Shall not be
<br /> entitled.
