ORDINANCE NO. 86-92 By: Boscia, Gallagher, George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE Chapter 1304 of the Building Code the City of Lakewood providing materials and installations. to amend Section 1304.01 of of the Codified Ordinances. of for standards for electrical WHEREAS, the 1990 National amended, and " Electrical Code has been WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of the City of Lakewood that Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood be amended to the 1993 National Electrical Code, WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure providing for the preservation of the public health, safety and welfare, for the reason that the National Electrical Code, as amended, will go into effect on January 1, 1993 and such amendments should be adopted and become effective by that date; now, therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Section 1304.01 of Chapter 1304 of the Building Code of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood now reading as follows: 1304.01 ADOPTING; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. Pursuant to the provisions of the Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National Electrical Code, being particularly the 1990 edition thereof, designated ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1990, is hereby adopted by the City and incorporated by reference as a part of the Building Code. of the City of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or deleted. The purpose of a National Electrical Code as adopted herein is the practical safeguarding of persons, buildings and dwellings, and their contents from hazards arising from the use of electricity for heat, light and power and for other purposes. shall be and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: 1304.01 ADOPTION; IDENTITY AND PURPOSE. Pursuant to the provisions of the Ohio R.C. 731.231, the National Electrical Code, being particularly the 1993 edition thereof, designated ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1993, is hereby adopter by the City and incorporated by reference as a part of the Building Code of the City of Lakewood as if fully set out herein, except such provisions as are, hereinafter amended, enacted or deleted. Section 2. That this ordinance is hereby declared to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take effect .and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law.
