ORDINANCE NO. <br /> <br />36-93 <br /> <br />BY:Gallagher, George, Gibbons, <br />Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Director <br />of the Department of Human Services to accept, on behalf of the City, <br />a $11,217 grant from the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and <br />authorizing an additional appropriation to fund the Home Injury <br />Control Program to be implemented by the Division of Aging. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has applied for funding from <br />the Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging Older Americans Act Title <br />III(F) funds and has been'awarded a grant in the amount of $11,217 <br />and · <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, accepting the grant will enable the Department of <br />Human Services, Division of Aging to perform necessary and desirable <br />services for older adults who may be at risk of accident or injury <br />due to environmental and personal factors with non-tax funds, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, accepting the grant will allow the Department of <br />Human Services to elevate the present part-time Licensed Practical <br />Nurse to full-time status, including complete fringe benefits, to <br />provide this service, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, an additional appropriation is necessary to modify <br />the current part-time Licensed Practical Nurse position to a <br />full-time position, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, <br />safety, and welfare in that it is necessary to protect the elderly <br />from the hazards related to.injuries in the home; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and the Director of Human <br />Services be and they are hereby authorized' to accept a grant on <br />behalf of the City of Lakewood in the amount of $11,217 from the <br />Western Reserve Area Agency on Aging and to execute the necessary <br />documents as are acceptable to the Director of Law to protect the <br />public interest. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That $11,217 be appropriated from the General <br />Fund as an additional appropriation in order to modify the current <br />part-time Licensed Practical Nurse position to a full-time position, <br />necessary for the implementation of the Home Injury Control Program <br />through the Division of Aging. The additional appropriation to <br />include salary and benefits. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of <br />this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and <br />that all such deliberation of the Council and of any of its <br />committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open <br />to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />
