ORDINANCE NO. 49-93 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons. Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing the Mayor and the <br />Director of Human Services to accept, on behalf of the <br />City, a $13,000 grant from the Ohio Department of <br />Education and authorizing an additional appropriation to <br />to hire a part-time staff person and purchase supplies for <br />the H20, Help to Others Program, sponsored by the Lakewood <br />Division of Youth. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has applied for funding <br />from the Ohio Department of Education for Serve America <br />funds and has been awarded a grant in the amount of <br />$13,000, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, accepting the grant will enable the City of <br />Lakewood's Division of Youthto provide staff and supplies <br />for their H20, Help to Others Program, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency <br />measure pro~iding for the immediate preservation of the <br />public health, safety, and welfare and for the usual daily <br />operation of a municipal department, in that it is <br />necessary before the City can accept themoney and expend <br />it for the program; now therefore <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor and Director of Human <br />Services be and they are hereby authorized to accept a <br />grant on behalf of the City of Lakewood in the amount of <br />$13,000 from the Ohio Department of Education and to <br />execute the necessary documents as are acceptable to the <br />Director of Law to protect the public interest. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That $13,000 be appropriated from the <br />General Fund as an additional appropriation in order to <br />expend the funds received from the Ohio Department of <br />Education. The additional appropriation to include salary <br />and benefits. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all <br />formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to <br />the passage of this resolution were adopted in an open <br />meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations <br />of this Council and any of its committees that resulted in <br />such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, <br />in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4.
