PLACED ON 1st Reading ~ REFERRED TO FINANCE COMNITTEE ON 3/16/98 ORDINANCE NO. 27-98 BY: Corrigan, Flannery, George, Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE authorizing and directing the Director of Finance to sell, through public auctions, various obsolete, surplus and non-functioning City vehicles, materials and/or equipment. WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City to sell this obsolete, surplus and no,- functioning equipment to make better use of the space it occupies and to realize a profit from the sale, and WHEREAS, and emergency exists to provide for the immediate preservation of public property, health and safety, and to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal deparunents, now therefore: BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Director of Finance be and she is hereby authorized and directed to sell, through public auctions, held in the spring and in the fall, various obsolete, surplus and non= functioning City vehicles, materials and/or equipment after advertising according to law. Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal requirements. Section 3. This ordinance is hereby declared and emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor, otherwise, it shall take effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law.
