Placec ~n i.~ reading and referred 1:o <br /> Committee of :he Whole June 2I, 1999 <br /> Placed on 2nc readin9 July 5, 1999 <br />O~dinanceNo. 30-99 By:Corrigan, Fit:Gerald, George, <br /> Roth, Seelie, Skindell, Smith <br /> AN ORDINANCE amending Chapter 137 of the COdified Ordinances of the <br />Qty of Lakewood, for the purpose of adopting a new section, entitled "Terms <br />and Conditions of Employment for Paramedics and Paramedic Supervisors." <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood is converting from a hospital based EMS <br />system to a Fire based EMS system; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Qty of Lakewood desires to hire qualified Paramedics and <br />Paramedic Supervisors who have served as paramedics at Lakewood Hospital. <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF I AKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. The Oty of Lakewood does hereby provide that the specific <br />terms and conditions of employment for Paramedics and Paramedic Supervisors <br />shall be as follows: <br /> <br />A. DEFT. NITIONS <br /> <br />For purposes of the following provisions: <br /> <br />Both Paramedics and Paramedic Supervisors, shall be <br />referred to as "Paramedics". 'Firefighter Paramedic" shall <br />not be governed by this Section. <br />"Paramedic" shall be defined as a member of the Qty of. <br />Lakewood, Division of Rre whose position description and <br />related job duties have been approved by the Civil Service <br />Commission. <br />'l'our" shall be defined as a 24 hour scheduled period of <br />work. <br />"Work week" shall be defined as a 7 day period, beginning <br />Sunday to Saturday. <br />Averaged annual salary shall consist of 'regular time" and <br />"scheduled overtime" only. <br />"Regular time" shall be defined as an average forty hour <br />wor~ week. <br />"Scheduled overtime" shall be defined as the additional 10.4 <br />hours scheduled constituting the remainder of the 50.4 hour <br />average work week. <br />"Extra overtime" shall be defined as hours worked as a result <br />of being called back to work, held over from previous shift, <br />or required to work any unscheduled hours. <br /> <br />B. VACATIONS ~OR PAFLAMEDICS <br /> <br />Vacations for all full time Paramedics shall be earned in one <br />calendar year and taken in a subsequent year. <br />Probationary employees shall not be credited with vacation time <br />during their probationary period, but shall receive credit upon <br />expiration of their probationary pedod for all time spent as a <br />probationary employee. Vacation time earned dudng the calendar <br />year of 1999 shall be pro-rated according to the table below. <br />Beginning in the calendar year 2000, a paramedic who has <br />completed at least three (3) months of service with the City of <br />Lakewood, may use earned and accrued vacation from the previous <br />calendar year subject to the approval of the Fire Chief. <br />All full time Paramedics who have completed one full year of <br />~ervice az ..'..~ull brae P~ramec.c with Lakewood Hospital AssociaUon <br /> <br /> <br />
