PLACED ON 1ST READING & REFERRED TO THE COMMITTEE OF THE WHOLE 7/30/01. ORDINANCE NO. 68-01B BY: Corrigan, Dunn, FitzGerald, George, Skindell. AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE amending Ordinance No. 68-01A, passed April 1; 2002, for the purpose of increasing the contracting author'~y for the Director of Public Works to engage architectural and/or engineering firms to provide professional services in the design and preparation of specifications and contract administration and to advertise for bids and enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder for Park Improvements in accordance with the Administrative Code of the City of Lakewood, contracts not to exceed the specified amounts shown without separate resolution of Council; WHEREAS, Friends for an Ideal Dog Park Off Lechsh (F/DO) has agreed to raise funds necessary for building a Dog Park/Run in excess of $10,050; and WHEREAS, in order to move forward with this project in a timely manner, the City must increase contracting authority for the Dog Park/Run; and WHEREAS, an emergency exists to provide for the immediate preservation of the public property, health and safety, and to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments in that the portions of the Dog Park/Run Project must be completed in the fall of 2002 in order for the project to be completed in time for use of the facility next year. Now, therefore BE TI' ORDAINED BY THE CTTY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO Section 1. That Ordinance No. 68-01A, passed April 1, 2002, currently reading as follows: Section 1. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to engage architectural and/or engineering firms to provide professional services in the design and preparation of specifications and contract administration and to advertise for bids and enter into a contract with the lowest and best bidder in accordance with the Administrative Code of the'City of Lakewood, for the following Park Improvements, contracts not to exceed the specified amounts shown, except as hereinafter Provided: Lakewood Park Study/Implementation Plan Edwards, Cove Parks & St. Charles Green Madison Pool House RenovaUons City Reforestation Foster Pool - Water System Dog Park Design Dog Park/Run lOO,OOO 75,000 164,191 50,000 50,000 5,000 10,050 Section 2. That the Director of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to enter into .contracts as set forth above in amounts not to exceed the specified amounts without further action from Council; and to enter into contracts in excess of specified amounts only upon consent of Council evidenced by adoption of a resolution specifying the authorized amount. shall be and is hereby amended to read as follows: Roth
