<br />";1') <br /> <br />I" r {(~ ,:(;> <br /> <br />PLACED ON 1ST READING & REFERRED TO THE <br />RULES & ORDINANCES COMMITTEE 4/18/05. <br />PLACED ON 2ND READING 5/2/05. <br /> <br />Ordinance No. <br /> <br />25-05 <br /> <br />By: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. <br /> <br />An Ordinance to repeal Chapter 713, Billiards Rooms and Bowling Alleys, of the <br />Códified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br />Whereas, the City wishes to attract large-scale development; and <br /> <br />Whereas, in order to compete for and to attract large-scale develÖpment, the city <br />must have a competitive fee structure; and <br /> <br />Whereas, competitive fee structures will keep the cost of doing bùsiness in <br />Lakewood equitable, <br /> <br />Whereas, after a comprehensive review of our permit fee structure and an <br />analysis of our neighboring communities fee structures, the Administration is <br />rècommending the elimination, lowering and increase of various fees; and <br /> <br />Whereas, these adjustments will result in the stimulation and furthering of <br />economic activity, especially in the area of new construction. Now thèrefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That, Chaþter 713, Billiards Rooms and Bowling Alleys, of the <br />Codified Ordinances of the City currently reading as follows: <br /> <br />713.01 DEFINITIONS. <br />As used in this chapter certain terms are defined as follows: <br /> <br />(a) "Billiards" means any of the several games played on a table surrounded by an <br />elastic ledge or cushions, with balls which are impelled by a cue. The term includes all <br />forms of the game known as pool. <br /> <br />(b) "Billiard room" means any public place where the game of billiards is permitted to <br />b¢ played. <br />¡~ <br />(è) "Bowling" means any of the several games played on a bowling alley, by wherever <br />name known. <br /> <br />(d) "Bowling alley" means any public room or place whère the game of bowling is <br />permitted to be played. <br /> <br />713.02 LICENSE REQUIRED; EXCEPTIONS. <br />No person, society, dub, firm or corporation shall open, conduct, maintain or <br />operate a billiard room or bowling alley within the City unless such person has first <br />been duly licensed by the City for such purpose and has obtained a license therefor. <br />Hbwever, the provisionS of this chapter shall not apply to churches, schools or private <br />rèsidences. <br />
