Ordinance No. 25-05 By: Corrigan, Demro, Dever, Dunn, FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie. An Ordinance to repeal Chapter 713, Billiards Rooms and Bowling Alleys, of the Códified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood. Whereas, the City wishes to attract large-scale development; and Whereas, in order to compete for and to attract large-scale develÖpment, the city must have a competitive fee structure; and Whereas, competitive fee structures will keep the cost of doing bùsiness in Lakewood equitable, Whereas, after a comprehensive review of our permit fee structure and an analysis of our neighboring communities fee structures, the Administration is rècommending the elimination, lowering and increase of various fees; and Whereas, these adjustments will result in the stimulation and furthering of economic activity, especially in the area of new construction. Now thèrefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That, Chaþter 713, Billiards Rooms and Bowling Alleys, of the Codified Ordinances of the City currently reading as follows: 713.01 DEFINITIONS. As used in this chapter certain terms are defined as follows: (a) "Billiards" means any of the several games played on a table surrounded by an elastic ledge or cushions, with balls which are impelled by a cue. The term includes all forms of the game known as pool. (b) "Billiard room" means any public place where the game of billiards is permitted to b¢ played. ¡~ (è) "Bowling" means any of the several games played on a bowling alley, by wherever name known. (d) "Bowling alley" means any public room or place whère the game of bowling is permitted to be played. 713.02 LICENSE REQUIRED; EXCEPTIONS. No person, society, dub, firm or corporation shall open, conduct, maintain or operate a billiard room or bowling alley within the City unless such person has first been duly licensed by the City for such purpose and has obtained a license therefor. Hbwever, the provisionS of this chapter shall not apply to churches, schools or private rèsidences.
