An Ordinance to amend Chapter 1309, Permit Fees, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood for the purpose of changing certain fees charged by the City of Lakewood. Whereas, the City wishes to attract large-scale development; and Whereas, in order to compete for and to attract large-scale development, the city must have a competitive fee structure; and Whereas, competitive fee structures wili keep the cost of doing business in Lakewood equitable. Whereas, after a comprehensive review of our permit fee structure and an analysis of our neighboring communities fee structures, the Administration is recommending the elimination, lowering and increase of various fees; and Whereas, these adjustments wili result in the stimulation and furthering of economic activity, especialiy in the area of new construction. Now therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That Chapter 1309, Permit Fees, of the Codified Orçlinances of the City of Lakewood, currently reading as follows: ¡ 1309.01 PAYMENT PROCEDURE. The fees to be paid for building permits shali be determined by the Building Commissioner in accordance with the following schedule and shall be noted upon the application when approved for the issuing of the permit. Such fees are to be paid to r the Building Department which, upon receipt of such fees, shall issue the permit to the applicant. The fees to be paid shall be as are provided in this chapter. (Ord. 11-91. Passed 3-4-91.) 1309.02 BUILDING PERMIT FEES. (a) New BUiidinos and Structures. (1) New buildings or structures of up to one thousand dollars ($1,000) of valuation, minimum fee: $100.00 (2) For each additional one hundred dollars ($100.00) of valuation or part thereof in excess of one thousand dollars ($1,000) for residential use: $1.00 (3) For each additional one hundred dollars ($100.00) of valuation or part thereof in excess of one thousand dollars ($1,000) of commercial, industrial, retail, mercantile, assembly, or apartment house use: $2.00 (b) New Additions and Alterations, For all new additions and alterations which change the height, area, classification or grade of the building: (1) Additional floor area of up to one thousand doliars ($l,OOQ) of valuation, minimum fee: $20.00 (2) For each additional one hundred dollars ($100,00) of valuation or part thereof in excess of one thOusand dollars ($1,000) for residentiai use: $1.00
