ORDINANCE N0: Q(S gy; Corrigan,Demro,Dever,Dunn <br /> S6-OS FitzCerald,Madigan, Seelie <br /> AN EMERGENCY ORDINANCE to establish additional appropriations for current <br /> expenses and other expenditures of the City of Lakewood, State of Ohio, for the fiscal <br /> year ending December 31, 2005 to assist with disaster relief associated with Hurricane <br /> Katrina. <br /> WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is requesting <br /> assistance from state and local governments to participate in disaster relief following <br /> Hurricane Katriria; and <br /> WHEREAS, the administration will submit applications for two teams consisting of <br /> two firefighter-paramedics each to FEMA to assist in this effort; and <br /> WHEREAS, if deployed by FEMA,. Lakewood Fire employees will be paid their <br /> regular salaries by the City which will be reimbursed by FEMA; and <br /> WHEREAS, minimal overtime expenses will be incurred by the City of Lakewood <br /> to cover the shifts of those employees deployed; and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members elected thereto <br /> determines that this ordinance. is an emergenty measure, and that this ordinance shall <br /> take effect at the earliest date possible as set forth in Article III, Sections 10 and 13 of <br /> the Second Amended Charter of the City of Lakewood, and that it is necessary for the <br /> immediate preservation of the public property, health and safety, and to provide for the <br /> usual daily operation of municipal departments in that this aid is needed immediately. <br /> Now Therefore, <br /> BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE• OF OHIO <br /> Section 1. That Director or Finance is hereby authorized and directed to <br /> increase appropriations in the following funds by the amount stated below: <br /> General Fund $ 40,000 <br /> Section 2 That the. Director of Finance is hereby authorized to draw <br /> checks upon the City depositories for the amounts appropriated in this ordinance <br /> whenever claims are presented, properly approved by the head of the <br /> department for which the indebtedness is incurred, providing the President of <br /> Council or his/her designees shall approve all claims of the City Council. <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br /> Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in <br /> an open meeting of this Council and of any of its committees, that resulted in <br /> such formal actions, were in meetings open to the public in compliance with ail <br /> legal requirements: <br /> Section 4. That,this ordinance is hereby declared to bean emergency measure <br /> necessary for the immediate preservation of the public peace, property, health, safety <br /> and welfare in the City and for the usual daily operation of the City for the reasons set <br /> forth and defined in the preamble to this ordinance, and provided it receives the <br /> <br /> affirmatlve vote of at least five {5) of its members elected to Council, this ordinance <br /> <br /> shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption by the <br /> <br />
