An Ordinance to amend Chapter 1309 Permit Fees of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, adopted May 17, 2005, for the purpose of changing certain fees charged by the City of Lakewood to go into effect on March 1, 2007, Whereas, the City wishes to attract large-scale development; and _ Whereas, in order to compete for and to attract large-scale development, the city must have a competitive fee structure; and Whereas, competitive fee structures will keep the cost of doing business in Lakewood equitable. Whereas, after a comprehensive review of our permit fee structure and. an analysis of our neighboring. communities fee structures, the Administration is recommending the increase of various fees; and Whereas, these adjustments will result in the stimulation and furthering of economic activity, especially in the area of new construction. Now therefore, BE TT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1.That Chapter 1309, Permit Fees, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, currently reading as follows: 1309.01 PAYMENT PROCEDURE. The fees to be paid for building permits shall be determined by the Building Commissioner in accordance with the fdllowing schedule and shall be noted upon the application when approved for the issuing of the permit. Such fees are to be paid to the Building Department which, upon receipt of such fees, shall issue the permit to the applicant. The fees to be paid shall be as are provided in this chapter. (Ord. 11-91. Passed 3-4-91.) 1309.02 BUILDING PERMIT FEES._ (a) New Buildings and Structures. (1) Residential A. One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the first one thousand dollars ~i ($1,000) of valuation; B. One percent (1%) of the remaining valuation in excess of one thousand dollars ($1,000}. (2) Commercial, Industrial, Retail, Mercantile, Assembly or Apartment House Use: A. One hundred dollars ($100.00) for the first one thousand dollars ($1,000) of valuation; B. Two percent (2%) of any amount .between one thousand dollars ($1,000.00) and five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00) of valuation;. C. One percent (1%) of the remaining valuation in excess of five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00). (b) New Additions and Alterations. For all new additions and alterations which change the height, area, classification or grade of the building: (1) Residential.
