PLACED OMi iST READING & REFERRED TO THE <br />RULES & ORDINANCES COMMITTEE 11/20/04. <br /> <br />SECOND READING 12/4/06. <br /> <br />ORDINANCE NO, 82-06 <br /> <br />FitzGerald, Madigan, Seelie~ <br /> <br /> AN ORDINANCE to create a new section within Chapter 144, Civil Service <br />Commission, of the Codified Ordinances of the City Of Lakewood to set out the <br />procedure for deciding tie scores on civil service examinations. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance is necessary in that any Rules and Regulations <br />of the Lakewood Civil Service Commission which d ffer from the Ohio Revised <br />Code must be enacted by ordinance; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, based on the experience of the Civil Service Commission and their <br />extensive review of the Rules and Regulations, the Commission recommends that <br />the procedure for deciding tie Scores on ~i~ii service examination§ be iefiec~ecl a~ <br />described in the proposed ordinance. Now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That a new Section within Chapter 144, Civil Service <br />Commission, of the COdified Ordinances Of the City of Lakewood is hereby <br />created to read as follows: <br /> <br />144.XX DECIDING TIE SCORES <br /> <br /> (a) When two or mor~ eligible applicants receive the same total score, the order <br />in which the names of such persons shall appear on the eligible list shall be determined <br />by their respective scores on that part of the examination assigned the greatest weight. <br />In the event that two or more qualifying applicants also receive identical scores on that <br />part of the examination assigned the greatest weight, the order of listing shall be <br />determined by a computer generated random number assigned each app cant, the <br />lower number qualifying for priority listing on the eligible list. Such number is to be <br />posted at the exam for review by applicants. <br /> <br /> (b) In the event two or more applicants receive the same total score on a <br />promotional examination, seniority shall determine the order in which their names shall <br />be placed on the eligible list. In the event such applicants have equal seniority the <br />placement on the eligible list shall be determined by random number as stated above. <br /> <br /> (c) Subsections (a) and (b) hereof are specifically intended to supersede State <br />Code provisions 0[~ the procedure for deciding tie scores on civil service examinations. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this <br />Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in <br />an open meeting of this Council, and that all such deliberations of this Council <br />and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action were in meetings <br /> <br /> <br />
