ORDINANCE N0. 20-09 BY: Antonio, Bullock, Butler, Dever, Madigan, Powers AN ORDINANCE to take effect immediately provided it receives the affirmative vote of at least five (5) members elected to Council, otherwise, it shall be in effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law, to strengthen Lakewood farmers markets by permitting sale of dairy, meat, and eggs. WHEREAS, farmers markets are amenities that enhance property values and the attractiveness of our community, feed families in healthy and sustainable way, and promote walkability and neighborhood vitality; and WHEREAS, farmers markets add activity during daytime hours on the western edge of downtown, a priority area within the City for development; and WHEREAS, farmers markets are compatible with and strengthen Lakewood's "brand"; and WHEREAS, expanding goods offered at markets can strengthen them by attracting more vendors and customers and thereby further strengthen the community; and WHEREAS, this Council by a vote of at least five (5) members elected thereto determines that this ordinance is an emergency measure, and that this ordinance shall take effect at the earliest date possible as set forth in ARTICLE. III, SECTONS 10 and 13 of the SECOND AMENDED CHARTER OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, and that it is necessary for the immediate preservation of the public property, health and safety, and to provide for the usual daily operation of municipal departments in that these changes should be effective immediately. Now Therefore, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, in the COUNTY OF CUYAHOGA AND STATE OF OHIO: Section 1.
