AN ORDINANCE amending Section 905.07, Animals, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood to allow leashed dog - walking in Madison Park pursuant to existing re- strictions regarding leashed dog - walking. WHEREAS, a 2010 pilot program established that, under certain restrictions, leashed dog walking in Lakewood Park and Kauffman Park can benefit the community without creating an undue burden on the City's finances; and WHEREAS, in 2011 Council codified portions of the pilot program to allow leashed dog walking in Lakewood Park and Kauffman Park on a permanent basis; and WHEREAS, Madison Park shares features in common with Lakewood Park and Kauff- man Park including its distinction as a community park; and WHEREAS, based on these similarities it reasonable to assume that leashed dog - walking at Madison Park can be equally successful as it has been in Lakewood Park and Kauffman Park; and WHEREAS, allowing for leashed dog - walking in Madison Park will support the objec- tives of the Park System Strategic Plan to increase access and promote year -round use of Lake- . wood parks; now, therefore BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: Section 1. Pursuant to 905.07(a) of the Codified Ordinances, leashed dog - walking in Madison Park shall be allowed subject to the rules and restrictions specified by law. Section 2. Section 905.07, Animals, of the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, . currently reading as follows: 905.07 ANIMALS. (a) Animals Prohibited. No dogs or other animals shall be allowed within the parks, with the exception of those animals specifically authorized by the Director of Public Works or by ordinance. (b) Feeding of Animals Prohibited. No person shall feed or otherwise pro- vide food to geese, other wild animals and/or birds within the parks. (c) Molesting Animals. No person shall use any weapon, stick, stone or missile of any kind in the destruction or injury of or to, or in such man- ner as to disturb or molest, any wild or domestic fowl, animal or fish properly within the park limits.
