Please substitute for <br />the original. <br />ORDINANCE NO. 12 -15 BY: Anderson, Bullock, Juri.s, <br />Madigan, Marx, Nowlin. <br />AN ORDINANCE amending Chapter 145, Keep Lakewood Beautiful Board, of <br />the Codified Ordinances of the City of Lakewood, in order to update the code regulating <br />the composition and duties of this board. <br />WHEREAS, the Keep Lakewood Beautiful Board was initially created in Sep- <br />tember 1982 to promote civic involvement through public interest in the general im- <br />provement of the environment of Lakewood; and maintains an affiliation with Keep <br />America Beautiful; and <br />WHEREAS, Chapter 145 of the Code stands to be updated to modernize the com- <br />position and duties of the Keep Lakewood Beautiful Board; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Constitution of the State of Ohio and the Ohio Re- <br />vised Code, municipalities have the power of local self - government; and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to the Constitution of the State of Ohio and the Ohio Re- <br />vised Code, municipalities have the power to enact laws that are for the health, safety, <br />welfare, comfort and peace of the citizens of the municipality; now, therefore <br />BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, OHIO: <br />Section 1. Chapter 145, Keep Lakewood Beautiful Board, of the Lakewood Codi- <br />fied Ordinances, currently reading as follows: <br />CHAPTER 145 <br />KEEP LAKEWOOD BEAUTIFUL BOARD <br />145.01 CREATION. <br />The Keep Lakewood Beautiful Board is hereby created for the purpose <br />of assisting Council and the Mayor in establishing a City-wide policy <br />for decreasing the amount of loose refuse in the City. <br />145.02 DUTIES. <br />The duties of the Keep Lakewood Beautiful Board shall be: <br />(a) To promote public interest in the general improvement of the envi- <br />ronment of the City; <br />(b) To initiate, plan, direct and coordinate programs for litter control <br />for the community on a sustainable basis; <br />
