RESOLUTION NO. 3765 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. <br /> <br />Fahrenbach, Fairgrieve, <br />Gaydos, Oottermeyer, <br />Ward, Chockley~ Quinn. <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION relative to the death of Amos I. Kauffman, former <br />Mayor of the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, It has come to the attention of this Council that Mro <br />Amos I. Kauffman, former assistant to the president of the Brotherhood <br />of Locomotive Firemen and Enginemen, former Lakewood Finance Director <br />and former Mayor of Lakewood, has departed this life, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, In the year 1924, ~r. Kauffman was persuaded to ac- <br />cept the position of Finance Director of the City of Lakewood, and in <br />such position performed an excellent job of fiscal management, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, In 1932, following the death of his predecessor, <br />Mayor Edward A. Wiegand, Mr. Kauffman succeeded to the position of <br />Mayor, which position he held continuously for twenty-three years, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, During his more than thirty-one years of noteworthy <br />service to the City of Lakewood, ~r. Kauffman has earned the esteem <br />and respect of all who knew him, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, By virtue of his integrity, sincerity, friendliness <br />of manner and keen adherence to the principles which he deemed to be <br />in the best interests of the City of Lakewood, Mayor Kauffman has <br />brought enduring fame and honor not only to himself but to his com- <br />munity as well, therefore, be it <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, That as a mark of tribute to Mr. Amos I. Kauffman, <br />and in token of the esteem in which his memory is held by the members <br />of this Council, we express our deepest sympathy over his passing <br />away, and that we adopt this resolution and cause a copy thereof to <br />be spread upon the minutes of this meeting, and be it further <br /> <br /> RESOLVED, That the Clerk of Council transmit a duly authen- <br />ticated copy of this resolution to the immediate family of Amos I. <br />Kauffman. <br /> <br />Adopted:February 4, 19~7 <br /> <br />Approved:February 5, 1957 ..... <br /> <br />Thomas C.
