WHEREAS, The necessary operation of motor vehicles by the City of Lakewood and other political subdivisions of the state of Ohio, in the performance of their lawful functions, requires the consumption of large quantities of motor vehicle fuel; and WHEREAS, The cost of such fuels is increased to the ex- tent of the motor vehicle fuel excise tax imposed by the State of Ohio, which, in the case of the city of Lakewood, amounts to the approximate sum of four thousand dollars annually; and WHEREAS~ The sa~d tax amounts in effect to a tax by the state of Ohmo upon mrs own governmental sUbdivisions and is burdensome to them and results to a degree in the curtail- ment of their services; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood urgently recommend to the general assembly of the state of Ohio that sales of motor vehicle fuel to municipalities and all other political subdivisions for their own use be ex- e~ted from payment of the motor vehicle fuel excise tax pro- viced for under Chapter 5735 of the Revised Code. Section 2. That copies of this resolution be for- warded by the Clerk of Council to the clerks of both houses of the general assembly of the state of Ohio and to all Cuyahoga county members of the general assembly.
