RESOLUTION NO. 4195 BY: Messrs. Ward, Wendting, <br /> Williamson, Gaydos, <br /> Huffman, Lawther, <br /> Usher. <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing and directing <br />the Director of Public Works to enter into a contract for <br />the purchase of the necessary requirements of valves and <br />pipe fittings for the year 1963 for use in the Division of <br />Water. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Resolution No. 4183, adopted November 19, <br />1962, authorized the Director of Public Works to enter into <br />a contract for the purchase of valves and pipe fittings <br />after advertising according to law, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The statutory requirements of advertising <br />could not be complied with because of the existing news- <br />paper strike, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Director of Public Works solicited <br />bids from several suppliers of valves and pipe fittings, <br />and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, It is essential that such contract be <br />entered into at the earliest possible time, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, This resolution constitutes an emergency <br />measure providing for the immediate preservation of the <br />public health, safety and welfare and for the usual daily <br />operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of PUblic Works be and <br />he is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a contract <br />for the purchase of the necessary requirements of valves and <br />pipe fittings for the year 1963, for use in the Division of <br />Water, such contract to be entered into with James B. Clow <br />and Sons Company, based upon its bid submitted December 20, <br />1962, which bid is hereby determined to be the lowest and <br />best bid submitted. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this resolution is hereby declared <br />to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the <br />preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative vote <br />of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and <br />approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Adopted::January 7, 1963 <br /> <br />Robert M.
