RESoLuTIoN NO: 4512 <br /> <br />BY: Cain, Gaydos, Huffman, Kelley, <br /> Usher, Ward & Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION requesting the State of <br />Ohio to assume the cost of accrued fire and police pension <br />liabilities from the date of appointment~D January 1, 1967. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The Legislature of the State of Ohio, <br />by the passage of House Bill NOo 642 and senate Bill No. 173, <br />established future and past municipal liability for police and <br />fire pe~ions to January 1, 1967, and, <br /> <br /> ~ ~REAS, The municipalities of Ohio are liable <br />for pensions accrued by policemen and firemen until January 1, <br />t967, the amount of which has not yet been determined, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The payment of said pension liabilities <br />will cause extreme financial hardship to all of the munici- <br />palities of the State of Ohio and particularly to the City of <br />Lakewood~ now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lake- <br />wood does hereby petition, request, and urge participation by <br />the State of Ohio in the payment of accrued fire and police <br />pension liability from the date of appointment to January 1, <br />1967, in an amount equal to at least 100% thereof. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council is hereby <br />directed to forward certified copies of this resolution to the <br />Governor of the State of Ohio, the Clerk of the Ohio House of <br />Representatives, the Clerk of the Ohio Senate, and the members <br />of the General Assembly elected from the County of Cuyahoga. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
