EESOLUTION NO. 4651 BY: Messrs. Huffman, Kelley~ Ward <br /> G~abe~, Usher, Wendling, <br /> Gaydos <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION approving the application filed by the <br />Board of Trustees of Lakewood Hospital to the Ohio Department <br />of Health for Hill-Burton assistance as provided by Public Law <br />88-443, as amended, Title VI~ Public Health Service Act, dated <br />August 18, 1964, and for the purpose of modernizing and remodel- <br />ing Lakewood Hospital. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Council has cooperated in the current expansion <br />program of Lakewood Hospital including submission of a voted bond <br />issue to the electorate amd the issuance of councilmanic bonds, and <br /> <br />WHEREA~, the completion of this program and the modernization and <br />rehabilitation of existing facilities is of vital importance to <br />the conm~unity and the entire West Shore area, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Board of Trustees of Lakewood Hospital has authorized <br />the filing of an application for Hill-Burton assistance with the <br />Ohio Department of Health and has requested in such application <br />a grant of $800,000 representing o~e-third of a proposed program <br />for rehabilitation, remodeling and modernization of Lakewood <br />Hospital which program amounts to a total of $2,400,000~ and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, additional funds must be provided to finance two-thirds <br />of the program, a portion of which funds has previously been made <br />available and the remainder of which is to be raised through a <br />public subscription campaign, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure for <br />the in~nediate preservation of the public health, safety and <br />welfare and fopi the usual daily operation of a municipal government; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY T~ COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Sectlou 1. That Council approves the application for Hill-Burton <br />assistance previously authorized by the Lakewood Hospital Board <br />of Trustees and pledges its full cooperation to the Board in <br />obtaining the maximum grants available for the rehabilitation~ <br />remodeling and modernization of Lakewood Hospital. <br /> <br />Section 2. In the event that the full amount of additional funds <br />which must be provided by the City of Lakewood in the sum of <br />$750,000 do not become available by the time the grant is received <br />from the Ohio Department of Health, Council agrees to issue <br />councilmanic bonds in an amount equal to the difference between <br />funds actually available and the full amount of $750~000. Such <br />councilmanic bonds are to be amortized out of the Capital Outlay <br />and Depreciation Fund of Lakewood Hospital. <br /> <br />Section 3.
