RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />4727 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. Graber, Huffman, Usher, <br />Ward, Wendling, Gaydos <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing the opposition of the <br />Council of the City of Lakewood for and on behalf of the <br />citizens of Lakewood, Ohio, to the drilling for oil and <br />gas in Lake Erie. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The ever increasing problem of water and <br />air pollution is of vital concern to all of the citizens of <br />these United States, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The preservation and conservation of Lake <br />Erie is imperative to the health and welfare, not only to the <br />citizens of Lakewood, but to all the people residing in the <br />area contiguous to Lake Erie, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, The preservation and conservation of Lake <br />Erie is extremely vital to local industries and to a 11 persons <br />affected thereby, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Experience has shown that the drilling for <br />oil in other bodies of water has resulted in major disasters <br />causing substantial damage to our great natural resources, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, It is the wish and desire of this Council <br />to do all in its power to prevent the demise and disuse of this <br />great body of water;-now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood, <br />for and on behalf of the citizens of Lakewood, Ohio, strongly <br />opposes any drilling for oil and gas in Lake Erie. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
