RESOLUTION NO. 4880 BY: Messrs. Brockman, Graber, <br /> Kelley, Magnotto, McBride, <br /> Usher, Wendling <br /> A RESOLUTION to cormmend Chief Joseph S. McMahon for his twenty-six years <br />of devoted public service as a member of the Division of Police of the City of <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Joseph S. McMahon was appointed to the Police Department on the <br />4th day of February, 1946 after having served nobly and honorably with the United <br />States Air Force from October, 1942 to December 1945, and <br /> <br /> W~EREAS, Joseph S. MeMahon was promoted to the rank of Sergeant on the 1st <br />day of February, 1953, to the rank of Lieutenant on the 1st day of April, 1955, to <br />the rank of Captain on the 1st day of June, 1963 and to the rank of Chief on the <br />19th day of June, 1966, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, his ready acceptance of responsibility and his rapid promotion in <br />the Department are evidence of his leadership ability, devotion to duty and desire <br />to render outstanding service, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, during his twenty-six years of public service, he has earned the <br />admiration and respect of all Lakewood residents both in the performance o.f his <br />duties and through his interest in the community, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through the years he has won the respect and affection of his <br />colleagues in the DiviSion of Police through personal warmth and genuine interest <br />in assisting them to become proficient in their chosen work, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through the years he has won the respect and affection of his <br />colleagues throughout the State of Ohio as evidenced by his current service as <br />State President of the Fraternal Order of Police, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Joseph S. McMahon was instrumental in organizing the Westshore <br />Enforcement Bureau and has been instrumental in making such bureau the success <br />that it is today, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, through his leadership, the Lakewood Division of Police has <br />achieved envyable records of performance and safety, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, such dedication to duty and years of public service should be <br />recognized in a proper and fitting manner, now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. Lakewood City Council extends to Chief Joseph S. McMahon its <br />appreciation and the appreciation of all the citizens.of this community for his <br />twenty-six years of devoted public service as a member of the Division of Police <br />and further that this Council wishes him continued years of. service, success, <br />health, and prosperity. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to Chief Joseph S.
