RESOLUTION NO. 4953 <br /> <br />BY: Messrs. McBride, Sinagra, Usher, Werner, <br /> Graber, Magnotto <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing the Director of Public Works <br />to negotiate for such supplemental gasoline supplies as may be required for <br />the operation of the various City Departments including the Fire Department <br />and the Police Department, at the best price obtainable without advertising <br />or competitive bidding. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the present gasolin~ shortage makes it necessary to secure <br />supplemental supplies of gasoline for the proper operation of the various <br />City Departments including the Fire Department and the Police Department, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the exigencies of the situation demand that supplies of <br />gasoline be obtained as soon as possible, and, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a delay in order to comply with the competitive bidding <br />requirements of the Charter of the City of Lakewood, will be dangerous to <br />the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Lakewood, and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency in that it <br />p~ovides for the irmnediate preservation of the public health, safety, welfare <br /> property and provides for the usual daily operation of municipal depart- <br />me, ts; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LA~EWOOD, STATE OF <br />OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. It is hereby determined that an emergency exists and <br /> that the present gasoline shortage makes it necessary to secure supplemental <br /> supplies of gasoline as soon as possible, and that it is in the best interest <br /> of~ the City to purchase said gasoline supplies without bidding and advertising <br /> ~under the authority of the revised code 735.051. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Director of Public Works be and he is hereby <br />~authorized to negotiate for supplemental gasoline supplies as may be deter- <br />mined necessary and at the best price obtainable as purchases are made from <br /> time to time for use by the various City Departments including the Fire <br />,Department and the Police Department. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and <br /> directed to pay for the required purchases of gasoline, said sums to be <br /> charged to the various departments. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an <br /> emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided <br /> it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to <br /> Coqgcil, it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption <br /> <br />and~ approval by the Mayor. <br /> <br />Clerl~ <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
