Chinnock <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLDTIOM urging the Regional Transit Authoriny nc <br />provide evening service on the Ho. 80 Warren Road line in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WI~REAS, on October 29, 1975. Winterhurst Ice Rink~ situated in south <br /> L~kewood at the intersection of Warren Road and Lakewood Heights Boulevard was <br /> opened to the public~ &nd <br /> <br /> WHEreAS, the primary means of public transportation dfrectly serving <br />said rink, which is one of the largest facilities of its kind in the counnry, <br />is the Regional Transit Authority No. 80 War~en Road line~ whose last daily <br />trips initiate at 6'35 p.m. an both the northboun~ and southbound te~,ini , and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the many, many children and young people who rely ~n public <br />transportation and wish to skate at the evening sessions are required to walk <br />substantial distances during the dark hours to connecting cross-town lines, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in the interest of the safeny and welfare of its citizens~ <br />and particularly the children and young adults of this co~mnunity, this Council <br />desires to do all in its power no make available for its skating rink patrons <br />public transportation during the night season, and <br /> <br /> WI-~REAS, this Resolution co~stitunes an emergency measure in that the <br />requested evening service should be provided at the ~arliest p~ssible time; <br />now, therefor~ <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF I~ILEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO- <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood, for and on behalf <br />of the citizens of Lakewood, snrongly urges the Regional Transit Authority nc <br />provide evening service on its No. {£ Warren Road line or any r~placement line <br />which would serve the Winterhurst Ice Rink via Warren Road, as soon as possible. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized <br />and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Mr. Leonar~ Ronis. <br />General Manager of the Regional Transit Authority, 1404 East 9th Street, Cleveland, <br />Ohio 44114. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
