Chinnock, McBride, Salmon, <br /> Sinagra, Usher <br /> <br /> AN EblEi~GENCY Ri~SOIAYFION urging the members of thc Ohio Legislature to <br />enact legislation.to eliminate the gross discrimination currently existing in <br />utili~x rates. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the current utility rate strocture of less cost for more use <br />discriminates against small users of energy and promotes wasteful consumption, <br />and <br /> <br /> WIIE}UgAS, senior citizens and others on fixed incomes, who can ].cast <br />afford it, are those persons most affected hy continually increasing energy <br />costs and, in effect, are penalized for their willingness and ahility to <br />conserve energy, and <br /> <br /> WtlEREAS, this Council desires to express to the elected representatives <br />to the Ohio Legislature its deep concern for thc continued welfare of all senior <br />citizens and persons on fixed income, and the existing inequities which result <br />from the present utility rate structure, and <br /> <br /> WIIEREAS, this Resolution constitutes an emergency measure in that <br />suoh discr].mznatim{ and inequities should be eliminated at thc earliest <br />possible time; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY TIlE COUNCIL OF TIII5 CITY OF ]AKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood, for and on behalf <br /> of the citizens of thc City of Lake~ood, and part~.cularly its senior citizens <br /> and those persons on fixed ~ncome, strongly orgcs thc members of the l.egislature <br /> of the State of Ohio to enact leg;tslation to eliminate the gross discrimination <br /> currently existing in u~ility rates. <br /> <br /> Section 2. Tllat the Clerk of Council he, aud she is hereby autliorizcd <br /> and directed, to forwar& a certxfied copy of th'~s Resolut:ion to thc Clerk of the <br /> Ohio Senate, the Clerk Of the House of Representatives and to the Ctmirman of <br /> the Insurance, Utilities and Financial Institutions Committee of said Ilonse. <br /> <br /> Section B.
