RESOLUTION NO. 5165 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. Brockman, Chinnock, <br />Magnotto, Salmon, Sinagra, <br />Usher <br /> <br />AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Mayor, on behalf of the <br />City of Lakewood~ to make application for financial assistance under Title I <br />of the Comprehensive Employment and Training Act of 1973 as amended and to <br />execute a contract with the Cleveland Area Western Reserve Manpower Consortium <br />for participation in a program under the ~lnergency Jobs and Unemployment <br />Assistance Act of 1974. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has been determined by the United States Department <br />of Labor to be an eligible program agent under Title I Fmergency Job Program, <br />Comprehensive Employment and Training Act, as amended, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS~ the Clevel~and Area Western Reserve Manpower Consortium has received <br />funds for the City of Lakewood for use by the City in the Emergency Job Program, <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Lakewood Hospital and the Lakewood Board of Education are in need of <br />financial assistance in order to maintain and improve the School of Practical <br />Nursing, and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this Resolution constitutes an emergency measure providing for the <br />immediate preservation of the public health, safety and welfare and for the <br />further reason tha~ these funds must be applied for at the earliest possible <br />time; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE:COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br />Section 1. That the Mayor, on behalf of the City of Lakewood, be and he is <br />hereby authorized and directed to make application for funds under Title I <br />Emergency Job Program, Comprehensive Employment and Training Act, as amended. <br /> <br />Section 2. That the Mayor, on behalf of the City of Lakewood, be and he is <br />authorized and directed to execute a contract with the Cleveland Area Western <br />Reserve Manpower Consortium for participation in the Emergency Job Program <br />under the Emergency Jobs and Unemployment Assistance Act of 1974. <br /> <br />Section 3. That the Director of Finance is hereby directed to forward said <br />grant funds upon receipt to Lakewood Hospital and the Lakewood Board of <br />Education for the purpose of providing the necessary financial assistance for <br />the School of Practical Nursing. <br /> <br />Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an emergency measure <br />for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it receives the <br />affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it shall <br />take effect and be in force immediately upon its adopti and approval by the <br /> <br />Mayor. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Acting Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
