RESOLUTION NO. 5237 BY: <br /> <br />Messrs. Brockman, Chinnock, Magnotto, <br />McBride, Salmon. Sinagra, Usher <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing %he Mayor'as Director of <br />Public Safety to enter into a contract for the purchase of a Hurst Power <br />Rescue Tool for the Division of Fire. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, from time to time members of the Division of Fire are <br />called upon to perform rescue and/or extrication under difficult conditions <br />which require removing heavy, twisted metal, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the recent tragic motor vehicle accident at Bunts and <br />Clifton Boulevard has brought th~ immediate need for such a device to our <br />attention in that our fire fighters were greatly hampered in the use of <br />our present rescue tool due to the vast amounts of flammablesinthe rescue <br />area, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is of the opinion that it is in the best <br /> interests of the safety and welfare of the citizens of this community that <br /> the hydraulic power rescue tool be purchased without delay, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure providing <br />for the immediate preservation of the public peace, health and safety~ and <br />for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; now, therefore: <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD~ STATE OF <br />OHI0: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of Public Safety be and he is hereby <br />authorized and directed to enter into a contract for the purchase of a Model <br />32 Hurst Power Rescue Tool with Automotive Jaws or an acceptable equal with <br />the lowest and best bidder after advertisement according to law. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Cost of this equipment shall be provided from <br />Federal Revenue Sharing Equipment Funds. <br /> <br /> Section 3; That this resolution is hereby declared to'~be an emer- <br />gency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and provided it <br />receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, <br />it shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its adoption and approval <br />by the Mayor; otherwise it shall take effect and be in force from and after <br />the earliest period allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted:/ <br /> <br />Approved: ,/~ <br /> <br />Clerk / <br /> <br />Mayor <br /> <br /> <br />
