RESOLUTION NO. 548] BY: <br /> <br />Gallagher, Graham, <br />McBride, Salmon, <br />Wendling, Brown, Chinnock <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION urging the Ohio General Assembly to adopt <br />legislation to require the Liquor Control Commission to convene <br />periodically in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, all appeals of the decisions of the Department <br />of Liquor Control of the State of Ohio, including those arising out <br />of Cuyahoga County, are held by the Liquor Control Commission in <br />Columbus, Ohio,and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, said appeals require the prSsentation of evidence <br />and the attendance of witnesses including permit holders, as well <br />as public officials in cases involving license applications, all <br />of which necessitate the expenditure of substantial time, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the case load of the Liquor Control Commission <br />is such that more often than not, the Commissioln is unable to <br />maintain its daily schedule and hearings are u~avoidabiy delayed <br />all to the inconvenience of those persons requilred to appear at <br />said hearings, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is of the opinilon that in those <br />cases originating out of Cuyahoga County, justilce would be better <br />served and hearings could be handled in a more expeditious and <br />efficient manner if same were held in Clevelandl, Ohio and legislation <br />should be enacted to that effect; now, thereforle, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section i. That the Council of the Clity of Lakewood for <br />and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lakewood and of <br />Cuyahoga County, strongly urges the Ohio Generall Assembly to enact <br />legislation to require the Liquor Control Commilssion to convene <br />periodically in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohilo. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Councill be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this resolution <br />to Oliver Ocasek, President of the Ohio Senate,, Vernal G. Hiffe, <br />Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives, SKate Senator Paul R. <br />Matia and State Representative Francine M.
