. <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 5994-85 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Graham, D1cBride, Salmon, <br /> Wend1ing <br /> A RESOLUTION urging the elected Representatives of the Ohio <br /> Senate and the Ohio House of Representatives to support passage of <br /> Senate Bill 16 and House Bill 108 which deal with alternate means of <br /> testimony in sexual abuse cases of children. <br /> WHEREAS, Senate Bill 16 sponsored by Senator Lee Fisher, and <br /> House Bill 108 sponsored by Senator Pringle have been introduced in <br /> the Ohio General Assembly to permit the video taping of the testimony <br /> of minors who have been victims in sexual abuse cases, and <br /> WHEREAS, there is a growing need to seek out and prosecute <br /> those individuals who are involved in the sexual abuse of children, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, there is a need in cases where a child is the <br /> alleged victim, to allow video taped testmony outside the courtroom to <br /> be presented as an alternative to in-court testimony; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood hereby <br /> expresses its strong support of Senate Bill 16 and House Bill 108 now <br /> pending before the Ohio General Assembly and strongly urges the Ohio <br /> Senate to enact said Bills at the eariest possible time. <br /> Section 2.
