<br /> RESOLUTION N0. 6770^87 BY: Brown} Chinnock, Gallagher, <br /> Graham, McBride, Salmon, Wendling <br /> A RESOLUTION extending congratulations to Maynard W. Unger <br /> on being the recipient of Lakewood's "Spirit of 87" Award in the <br /> category of "Self Government." <br /> WHEREAS, "Spirit of 87" Awards are a major recognition <br /> activity in the State of Ohio for the Bicentennial Celebration of the <br /> signing of the United States Constitution and the Northwest Ordinance, <br /> and <br /> WHEREAS, Maynard W. Unger, affectionately known to his many <br /> friends and acquaintences as "Doc", has been selected by the Lakewood <br /> United States Constitution/Centennial Commission as Lakewood's "Spirit <br /> of 87" Award in the area of "Self Government," and <br /> WHEREAS, Mx. Unger received this honor for his many years of <br /> giving so liberally of his time, talents and energies in promoting the <br /> meaning of civil responsibility through his Boy Scouts of America <br /> involvement and coordinating such community events as Fly Your Pride, <br /> Statute of Liberty Recognition, Flag Day, and Arbor Day ceremonies, <br /> and as chairman of the City's Environmental Board (Litterless <br /> Lakewood), and <br /> WHEREAS, Mr. Unger automatically becomes a finalist at the <br /> State level and will be vying for the State of Ohio Spirit of 87 Award <br /> to be determined at the State Faix in Columbus, Ohio, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Council wishes to join with his many friends <br /> and acquaintences in congratulating Maynard W. Unger on being selected <br /> as the recipient of Lakewood's "Spirit of 87" Award in the category of <br /> "Self Government"; now, therefore <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE <br /> OF OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That this Council extends to Maynard W. Unger <br /> its heartiest congratulations and that of all of the citizens of this <br /> community, on being the recipient of Lakewood's "Spirit of 87" Award <br /> in the category of "Self Government" and wishes him good luck and <br /> success as a finalist in the finals in Columbus, Ohio. <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br /> authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution <br /> to Maynard W.
