RESOLUTION N0. 6204-87 BY: Brown, Gallagher, Graham, <br /> McBride, Salmon., Wendling <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Mayor <br /> ex-officio Director of Public Safety to advertise for bids for the <br /> purchase of up to nine. (9) new motor vehicles for the Division of <br /> Police, Department of Public Safety. <br /> WHEREAS, present motor vehicles in the Division of Police are <br /> of such age and condition as to require continual repair resulting in <br /> extended periods of time when they are not available for use because of <br /> such needed repair, with some vehicles having speedometer readings in <br /> excess of 80,000 miles, and <br /> WHEREAS, the current motor vehicles fail to provide a degree <br /> of reliability and are no longer cost efficient to maintain and should <br /> be replaced with new motor vehicles, and <br /> WHEREAS, this Resolution constitutes an emergency measure in <br /> that it provides for the immediate preservation of the public safety <br /> <br /> and welfare and for the usual daily operation of municipal department; <br /> <br /> now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor ex-officio Director of Public Safety <br /> be and he is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for bids for the <br /> purchase of motor vehicles consisting of up to nine (9) new motor vehicles <br /> plus related equipment. <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all formal actions of <br /> this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this resolution were <br /> <br /> adopted in an open meeting of this Gouncil, and that all such deliberations <br /> <br /> of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal <br /> <br /> action, were in meetings open to the public in compliance with all legal <br /> requirements including Section 121.22 of the Ohio Revised Code. <br /> Section 3. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an <br /> <br /> emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br /> provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br /> elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br /> upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; other a it shall take <br /> <br /> effect and be in force after the earliest period Lowe by law. <br /> CLERK <br /> Approved: J~L/~`t17 MA R <br /> <br />
