RESOLUTION N0. 6292-~8 gy: Brown, Gallagher, Gazzana, George, Graham <br /> A RESOLUTION opposing C.E.I.'S request fox a rate <br /> increase and calling upon Governor Richard Celeste and the PUCO <br /> to deny C.E.I.'s application fox a rate increase for construction <br /> of nuclear pow ex plant generating units. <br /> WHEREAS, C.E.I. is asking for a 52$ rate increase, <br /> ($45U million phased in over lU years), to recover its share of <br /> the construction costs of the Perry I and Beaver Valley II <br /> nuclear power plants, and <br /> WHEREAS, C.E.I. ratepayers are already paying rates 43°s <br /> above the average, and <br /> WHEREAS, governments, school boards and businesses have <br /> stated that the proposed rate increases will be devastating to <br /> the region's economy; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OE THE CITY OE LAKEWOOD, <br /> STATE OE OHIO: <br /> Section 1. That this Council, for and on behalf of the <br /> citizens of Lakewood, opposes C.E.I.'s request for a rate <br /> increase and calls upon Governor Richard Celeste and the PUCO to <br /> deny C.E.I.'S application for a rate increase to pay for the <br /> building of the PerRy I and Beaver Valley II nuclear generating <br /> units. <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby <br /> directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the <br /> Honorable Richard F.
