RESOLUTION NO. 6346-89 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallag'her, <br />Gazzana, George, Graham, Wendling <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION of con~endation and encouragement for <br />Ellen McEvoy on her selection to represent the State of Ohio, in <br />ice skating competition, at the 4th International Special Olympic <br />Winter Games. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Winter Games will be held from April 1-8, <br />1989, in Reno, Nevada and Lake Tahoe, California, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, 1,400 athletes from more than twenty countries <br />will compete in five Special Olympic sports, and <br /> <br /> ' WHEREAS, E~len McEvoy, a life long resident of <br />Lakewood, who will be representing Ohio in figure skating, became <br />the first Speciat Olympic figure skater to compete statewide in <br />1986, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Ellen has garnered the Gold Medal at the Area <br />12, North Sectional Ice Skating Meet held January 14, 1989, and <br />the Gold Medal at the Ohio State Special Olympic Winter Games at <br />the Kent State University Ice Arena, February 3, 1989, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council desires to express its <br />encouragement and commends Ellen McEvoy for undertaking such an <br />athletic challenge and wishes her the best of luck during the <br />Games; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Lakewood City Council extends to Ellen <br />McEvoy the best of luck during her Olympic events in Reno, Nevada <br />and for itself and all of the citizens of this community, extends <br />its encouragement and commends her for undertaking such a <br />distinguished athletic endeavor. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this <br />Resolution to Ellen McEvoy, 17450 Lake Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio, <br />and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of <br />this meeting. <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br /> <br />
