RESOLUTION NO. 6346-89 BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gallag'her, Gazzana, George, Graham, Wendling A RESOLUTION of con~endation and encouragement for Ellen McEvoy on her selection to represent the State of Ohio, in ice skating competition, at the 4th International Special Olympic Winter Games. WHEREAS, the Winter Games will be held from April 1-8, 1989, in Reno, Nevada and Lake Tahoe, California, and WHEREAS, 1,400 athletes from more than twenty countries will compete in five Special Olympic sports, and ' WHEREAS, E~len McEvoy, a life long resident of Lakewood, who will be representing Ohio in figure skating, became the first Speciat Olympic figure skater to compete statewide in 1986, and WHEREAS, Ellen has garnered the Gold Medal at the Area 12, North Sectional Ice Skating Meet held January 14, 1989, and the Gold Medal at the Ohio State Special Olympic Winter Games at the Kent State University Ice Arena, February 3, 1989, and WHEREAS, this Council desires to express its encouragement and commends Ellen McEvoy for undertaking such an athletic challenge and wishes her the best of luck during the Games; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD: Section 1. That Lakewood City Council extends to Ellen McEvoy the best of luck during her Olympic events in Reno, Nevada and for itself and all of the citizens of this community, extends its encouragement and commends her for undertaking such a distinguished athletic endeavor. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this Resolution to Ellen McEvoy, 17450 Lake Avenue, Lakewood, Ohio, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. PRESIDENT
