RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6381-89 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br />George, Graham, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing the Director of Public <br />Safety to issue a permit to the Lakewood Centennial Commission for <br />festival rides at the 1989 Hometown Pride celebration. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Centennial Commission has determined that it is <br />in the public interest to offer a wide variety of activities during <br />Hometown Pride Weekend, July 28-30, 1989, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is important to encourage participation of all <br />our citizens in the celebration of Lakewood's 100th birthday and to <br />provide entertainment for our residents of all ages, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the rides proposed and attached to the letter from <br />the Chairman of the Centennial Commission are appropriate as part of <br />our Centennial Celebration, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the usual daily operation of a municipal department; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Director of Public Safety be and is <br />hereby authorized to issue a permit to the Lakewood Centennial <br />Commission for amusement rides at the Hometown Pride Festival of <br />Lakewood Centennial Celebration. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the issuance of the permit provided for in <br />Section 1 be subject to a determination by the Director of Public <br />Safety that all such amusements are in full compliance with applicable <br />building codes, safety regulations and other laws of the State of Ohio <br />or ordinances of the City of Lakewood, and provided that the vendor <br />shall provide evidence of insurance, bonds and/or policies of <br />insurance satisfactory to the Director of Law. <br /> <br /> Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 4. That this resolution is hereby declared to be an <br />emergency measure for the reasons stated in the preamble hereof and <br />provided it receives the affirmative vote of two-thirds of all members <br />elected to Council, it shall take effect and be in force immediately <br />upon its adoption and approval by the Mayor; otherwise, it shall take <br />effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by law. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
