RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6408-89 <br /> <br /> BY: Chinnock, Gallagher <br />Gazzana, George, Graham, Wendling <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing and directing <br />the Mayor, ex-officio Director of Public Safety, to <br />advertise for bids for the purchase of six new motor <br />vehicles for the Division of Police, Department of Public <br />Safety. ' <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, present motor vehicles in the Division of <br />Police are of such age and condition as to require continual <br />repair resulting in extended periods of time when they are <br />not available for use because of such needed repair, with <br />some vehicles having odometer readings approaching 70,000 <br />miles, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the current motor vehicles fail to provide <br />a degree of reliability, are no longer cost efficient to <br />maintain as police vehicles, and should be replaced with new <br />motor vehicles, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Resolution constitutes an emergency <br />measure in that it provides for the immediate preservation <br />of public safety and welfare and for the usual daily <br />operation of a municipal department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />OHIO: <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor, ex-officio Director of <br />Public Safety, be and he is hereby authorized and directed <br />to advertise for bids for the purchase of six motor vehicles <br />including related equipment. <br /> <br /> Section 2. It is found and determined that all <br />formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to <br />passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of <br />this Council, and that all such deliberations of this <br />Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such <br />formal action were in meetings open to the public in <br />compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That this ordinance is hereby declared <br />to be an emergency measure for the reasons stated in the <br />preamble hereof and provided it receives the affirmative <br />vote of two-thirds of all members elected to Council, it <br />shall take effect and be in force immediately upon its <br />adoption and approval by the Mayor: otherwise, it shall take <br />effect and be in force after the earliest period allowed by <br />law. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />PRESIDENT <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />'CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
