RESOLUTION NO. 6419-89 <br /> <br />BY: Brown, Chinnock, Gazzana <br /> George, Graham, WendlinE <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing the Mayor, for and on <br />behalf of the City of Lakewood, to accept as a gift to the City of <br />Lakewood the sum of $14,400.00 from Riser Foods, Inc. for the <br />Department On Aging. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood has extended grocery shopping <br />assistance to its elderly residents since 1978, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, area supermarkets have provided assistance to meet <br />transportation costs faced by the Office On Aging for the operation of <br />the grocery shopping assistance program, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, in response to the need to continue said program, <br />Riser Foods, Inc. has graciously donated to the City. of Lakewood the <br />sum of $14,400.00 to be used for the benefit of the grocery shopping <br />assistance program of the Office On Aging, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Riser Foods, Inc., gift would support the <br />program for a two year period, $7,200 in 1990 and $7,200 in 1991 to <br />continue this much needed service for the senior citizens of Lakewood; <br />now, therefore, <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this ordinance constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare, and for the usual daily operation of a municipal <br />department; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Mayor be and he is hereby authorized <br />for and on behalf of the City of Lakewood to accept a gift from Riser <br />Foods, Inc. in the amount of $14,400.00 for the Department of Aging <br />for assistance in the grocery shopping program, $7,200 for 1990 and <br />$7,200 for 1991. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Mayor and Council extend to Riser <br />Foods, Inc. their sincere appreciation and thanks along with that of <br />all the citizens of this community for their most gracious gift to be <br />used for the benefit of our senior citizens by the Department On <br />Aging. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this <br />Resolution to Anthony Rego, Riser Foods, Inc., 5300 Richmond Road, <br />Bedford Heights, Ohio 44146, and that a copy of this resolution be <br />spread upon the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 4. It is found and determined that all formal <br />actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this <br />resolution were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, and that <br />all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees <br />that resulted in such formal action were in meetings open to the <br />public in compliance with all legal requirements. <br /> <br /> <br />
