RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6442-90 <br /> <br />~V~ Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana <br /> George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION urging the Congress and the President of <br />the United States to support Romanian assistance efforts. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the proud country of Romania, having derived <br />its name from its inhabitants who were formerly soldiers of the <br />Roman Legions who were given parcels of the land by the Roman <br />Emperors as a reward for their heroism and bravery in conquest, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, many of their descendents have <br />America, a number of whom reside in the West <br />Cuyahoga County, Ohio, and <br /> <br /> immigrated to <br />Shore area of <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a number of these descendents have relatives <br />and friends remaining in Romania who are in need of food, <br />medicine, clothing, and other assistance in their struggle for <br />democracy and freedom; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That Lakewood City Council will respectfully <br />request our United States Congressional Representatives and the <br />President of the United States to support Romanian assistance <br />efforts in any manner they feel effective including assistance to <br />the International Romanian Relief Fund, c/o Pioneer Savings and <br />Loan, 6710 Detroit, Cleveland, Ohio 44102. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk be and she is hereby directed <br />and authorized to send a certified copy of this Resolution to <br />President Bush, Senator John Glenn, Senator Howard Metzenbaum, <br />Congressman Edward Feighan, Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar, the <br />Clerk of the United States House of Representatives and the <br />Clerk of the United States Senate, <br />Resolution be spread upon the minutes of <br /> <br />Adopted :~ ~/ <br /> <br />Approved~'~ZZ.~f.~ 5, <br /> <br />and. that .a c~~_~his <br /> <br /> <br />
