RESOLUTION NO. 6479-90 BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, George, Graham, Roth, Smith AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION proclaiming March 25-31, 1990, as "Tornado Safety Week" in the City of Lakewood and urging participation in Tornado Safety Activities. WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood joins the Governor of the State of Ohio and the Board of Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring that "Tornado Safety Week", and WHEREAS, Cuyahoga Co.unty is located in an area of the State of Ohio described as "Tornado Alley", wherein the potential hazards of loss of life and injury to persons and ~roperty from tornadoes are high; and WHEREAS, the City of takewood urges all residents to be aware of and participate in Tornado Safety Week activities and to become informed about tornado safety; and WHEREAS, community awareness and planning for such threats of tornadoes can result in saving of lives and prevention of injury, particularly among special populations such as school children; and WHEREAS, a Tornado Drill Exercise will be conducted on Wednesday, )~arch 28, 1990, at 10:10 a.m. and that such Drill Exercise will be designed for county-wide elementary school and local participation and for testing of the Emergency Broadcasting System; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That the City of Lakewood joins with the Governor of the Ohio and Commissioners of Cuyahoga County in declaring March 25-31 as "Tornado Safety Week" in the City of Lakewood and supports the county-wide Tornado Drill Exercise that will be conducted on Wednesday, March 28, 1990 at 10:10 a.m. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to the Cuyahoga Emergency Management Assistance Center (CEMAC), 1255 Euclid Avenue, Room 102, Cleveland, Ohio 44115, and that a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the minutes of this meeting. Section 3. It is found and determined that all formal actions of this Council concerning and relating to the passage of this ordinance were adopted in an open meeting of this Council, ,and that all such deliberations of this Council and of any of its committees that resulted in such formal action, were in meetings open to the public, in compliance with all legal requirements. Section 4.
