RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6489-90 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />Gazzana, George, Roth <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION extending congratulations to Father Robert <br />James Jenkins on the fortieth anniversary of his ordination to the <br />priesthood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on April 29, 1950, Father Robert James Jenkins <br />was ordained into the priesthood by Archbishop Hoban after <br />graduation from St. Mary Major Seminary, Cathedral Latin School <br />and St. Philomena Grade School, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on October 2, 1972, Father Jenkins was <br />appointed pastor of St. Luke Church, Lakewood, Ohio, after having <br />served for four years as Associate Pastor there, and prior thereto <br />for three years at St. Sebastians's in Akron, as Assistant Pastor <br />for five years at St. Theresa's in Garfield Heights and for five <br />years at that position for Immaculate Conception in WilloUghby and <br />St. Ann's in Shaker Heights, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, throughout the years of his service to God and <br />His People, Father Jenkins has, through his profound dedication <br />and devotion to the spiritual needs and welfare of all people, <br />endeared himself not only to his parishioners, but to all those <br />who have sought his counsel, advice and assistance, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the parishioners of St. Luke Church are not <br />only deeply appreciative of Father Jenkins' spiritual guidance but <br />are grateful also for the extreme pride he takes in the Church and <br />School buildings and his total acceptance of the responsibility of <br />preserving and enhancing their house of worship as well as its <br />green lawns, affectionately known by the children attending School <br />as "Father Jenkins' grass" and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council wishes to join with his many <br />.parishioners and friends in extending congratulations to Father <br />Jenkins on the noteworthy occasion of his 40th anniversary as a <br />Roman Catholic priest; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council extends to Father <br />Robert James Jenkins its warmest congratulations and that of all <br />of the citizens of this community, on the 40th anniversary of his <br />ordination to the priesthood and wishes him continued years of <br />health, happiness and service to his church. <br /> <br /> Section 2.
