RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6519-90 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br /> George, Graham, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION honoring America's Firefighters who have made the <br />supreme sacrifice while carrying out their duties to our Nation and its <br />communities. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, President Ronald Reagan dedicated the Fallen Fire- <br />fighters Memorial on October 4, 1981, proclaiming that every year the Sunday <br />immediately following Fire Prevention Week be declared Fallen Fire- <br />fighters Memorial Day; and a memorial service is conducted on the campus at <br />the National Emergency Training Center to remember these brave Americans, <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood recognizes the dedication and <br />sacrifice the Firefighters of this Country make for the protection and <br />well-being of all our citizens, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Firefighters of Lakewood will be honoring their fallen <br />brothers and sisters across this Nation on Sunday, October 14, 1990, at the <br />memorial sculpture located at 1418 Warren Road in front of Station #1; now, <br />therefore <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the City of Lakewood will commemorate the <br />sacrifice of America's Firefighters by declaring October 14, 1990 in the <br />City as Fallen Firefighters Memorial Day and that all City flags will be <br />flown at the half staff in their honor. Hereinafter, this day will be <br />remembered on the Sunday following national observance of Fire Prevention <br />Week. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby directed to <br />forward a certified copy of this Resolution to the Lakewood Association of <br />Firefighters, Local #382 of the International Association of Firefighters, <br />AFL-CIO, at 18124 Detroit Avenue, c/o Gary G~Haas, Lakewood,~io, and that <br />a copy of this Resolution be spread upon the~minu~s of thi~mee~ing. <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br /> <br />
