RESOLUTION NO. 6529-90 <br /> <br />BY: Bo~i~ Gallagher~ GazTana, <br /> George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION urging that the Ohio General Assembly adopt <br />legislation mandating those paroled felons who have committed <br />heinous crimes involving murder or rape of the Felony 1 and Felony <br />2 Degree inform, through their parole officer, the law enforcement <br />officials of the intended community of residence. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, a supervised paroled person previously convicted <br />of murder committed a heinous sexual crime in our community <br />recently, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, crimes such as these are of great danger to this <br />community and have been and are being committed by habitual and <br />dangerous persons traveling from place to place throughout the <br />state, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, there presently exists no means whereby the <br />police officers of the City may be apprised of the arrival into <br />the City or the presence in the City of such criminals until after <br />a crime has been committed by them, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this Council is of the opinion that legislation <br />enacting certain changes in the specific procedures regarding <br />previously convicted felons would lessen the menace to the peace, <br />safety and welfare of the residents of the City of Lakewood; now, <br />therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood for <br />and on behalf of the citizens of the City of Lakewood and of <br />Cuyahoga County, strongly urges the Ohio General Assembly to enact <br />legislation to require those paroled felons who have committed <br />heinous crimes involving murder or rape of the Felony 1 and <br />Felony 2 Degree inform through their parole officer, the law <br />enforcement officials of the intended community of residence. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Council of the City of Lakewood for <br />and on behalf of the Citizens of the City of Lakewood and of <br />Cuyahoga County strongly urges the Ohio General Assembly to also <br />enact legislation mandating that at the occurrence of any crime <br />above a minor misdemeanor committed by a serious offender on <br />parole, the parole board will revoke that offender's parole. <br /> <br /> Section 3. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward certified copies of this <br />resolution to Vern Riffe, Speaker of the House, Stanley Aronoff, <br />President of the Ohio Senate, Madeline A. Cain, District 8 <br />Representative, and Charles L.
