<br /> A RESOLUTION comm~nding Anthony C. Sioa._gra for his twenty-seven years of public service as Administrative
<br />AssisUmt, Prosecutor, Councilman-at-Large, and for the past thirteen years as Mayor of the City of Lakewood.
<br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Anthony C. Sinagra's leadership has been distinguished by innovative ideas, new programs
<br />and expanded services such as: storefront renovation, recycling and litter prevention, animal shelter, home maintenance,
<br />elimination of sign and billboard blight, Gateway project, computerization of all city departments, mediation, and the
<br />downtown revitalization project, demonstrating his concern for the residential and business community; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Anthony C. Sinagra's genuine interest and total commitment to strengthening the health and
<br />welfare of residents will continue through the creation of the only municipally funded non-recreational youth office in the
<br />State of Ohio; the priva!iTation of Lakewood Hospital thus allowing them to expand and increase their health care services;
<br />creation of a full-service health department; the long-term commitment to the elderly beginning as a councilman in the areas
<br />of housing, transportation, nutrition, and the establishment of satellite offices serving seniors; and the use of community
<br />development funds for child day care programs, adult day care and assisted living programs; and
<br /> WHEREAS, under Anthony Sinagra's administration, Public Works projects included erosion control; a state-of-
<br /> the-art waste water treatment plant; dedication of three mini parks; increased parking; a master parking and green space
<br /> plan; renovation of the band shelter, swimming pool and enclosed pavilion; urban reforestation and beau 'ufication projects;
<br /> all of which enhance the quality of life for all citizens; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Sinagra's administration has created a community that offers its residents a vast array of
<br /> cultural and community events and festivals: Including the Antique Show, Arts Festival, A la Carte in the Park, Community
<br /> Festival, Holiday Lights and Hometown Pride Weekend; which have become a tradition and instill hometown pride; and
<br /> WHEREAS, his concern for the safety of the entire community was evidenced in his support of the safety forces,
<br /> his efforts to expedite the 9-1-1 emergency phone system, the early warning system, crime prevention programs, and the
<br /> implementation of a D.A.R.E. program helping our young people fight drug abuse through our schools; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Sinagra has won the admiration and due recognition of his colleagues throughout the area as
<br /> evidenced by his service as President of and Executive Board Member of the Mayors and City Managers Association; Board
<br /> of Trustees with the Citizens League of Greater Cleveland, Federation of Community Planning and Regional Transit
<br /> Authority; Board Chairman of West Shore Council of Governments and West Suburbs United Appeal, and as Rcpre.~sentative
<br /> to the 9-1-1 planning committee; as well as membership in many community and area organizations; and
<br /> WHEREAS, under his leadership and direction thc City of Lakewood has achieved an enviable record of
<br /> performance, service and fiscal responsibility while maintaining a AA Bond rating from Moody's; and
<br /> WHEREAS, Anthony C. Sinagra resigns his position with the City of Lakewood effective December 31, 1990 to
<br /> continue his career of public service with the State Legislature as Senator from District 23; now, therefore,
<br />
<br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO:
<br />
<br /> Section 1. That this Council extend to Anthony C. Sinagra their appreciation and that of the citizens of this
<br /> community for his more than 27 years of distinguished public service to the City of Lakewood and further that they wish
<br /> him continued years of success, health and prosperity in his new endeavor.
