RESOLUTION NO. 6561-91 BY: <br /> <br />Boscia, Gallagher, Gazzana, <br />George, Graham, Roth, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION expressing unqualified support for the indi- <br />vidual men and women in the armed forces of the United States who <br />serve in the Persian Gulf region. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it becomes increasingly more important for those <br />of us at home to express our support for our armed forces who, under <br />stressful conditions and at great risk, are serving their country <br />in a desolate desert one third the distance around the globe from <br />their homes, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is important for these men and women and <br />their family members to know we, who enjoy the liberty which is <br />protected by them, support them in spirit and anxiously await their <br />return to the United States, and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, that our display of flags and orange ribbons <br />continue for the duration of Operation Desert Storm as well as our <br />prayers; now, therefore, <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, <br />STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That the Council of the City of Lakewood <br />and the Mayor on behalf of the residents of the City of Lakewood, <br />express unqualified support for the individual men and women serving <br />with the armed forces of the United states in Operation Desert Storm <br />and to their families, and that as a demonstration of that support <br />the residents of Lakewood continue to fly or otherwise display the <br />American Flag for a clear and strong message of that support. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and is hereby <br />directed to forward a certified copy of this resolution to President <br />Bush, Commander In Chief of the Troops, at the White House, Washington, <br />D.C. and that a copy of this resolution be spread upon the minutes <br />of this meeting. <br /> <br />Adopted: <br /> <br />Approved: :~ ~/) /~/ <br /> <br /> <br />
