RESOLUTION NO. 6595-91 BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, Graham, Roth, Smith A RESOLUTION congratulating Terry Joyce upon his retirement after a distinguished career of dedicated service as a leader in the labor movement which has contributed so much to the high standard of living in the United States of America. WHEREAS, Terry Joyce emigrated to the United States in 1957 from Mewillian in County Mayo, Ireland and became a citizen in 1963, at the earliest opportunity allowed by law, and WHEREAS, after starting as a laborer in Laborer's Local 310 upon his arrival here, he advanced to become a union steward and labor foreman before being elected as Business Agent of Local 310 in 1965, a union with many members from Lakewood, and WHEREAS, he continued to distinguish himself in the labor movement by being elected in the Distri~Council as a Delegate in 1967, Vice President in 1973, and finally as President in 1985, a position he held until his retirement, and WHEREAS, in 1973 he was recognized!~ with The Good Fellowship Award, in 1983 as Labor Man of the Year, and in 1984 as Grand Marshall of the St. Patrick's Day Parade, an event which he has proudly announced for the past twenty-two years, and WHEREAS, as an active member, Trustee and past president of the West Side Irish American Club, he has sponsored and supported many charitable events which have been of great assistance to many in need; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: Section 1. That this Council, for and on behalf of the citizens of Lakewood, hereby congratulates Terry Joyce upon his retirement from his distinguished career in Laborer's Local 310. Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby authorized and directed to forward a copy of this reso~o Terry Joyce, and that a copy of this resolut utes of this meeting.
