RESOLUTION NO: <br /> <br />6745-92 <br /> <br />BY:Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br /> Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> AN EMERGENCY RESOLUTION authorizing and directing the Mayor to <br />submit an application for the purpose of acquiring funds for the <br />litter prevention and recycling program and enter into an agreement <br />with and to administer and budget Litter Prevention and Recycling <br />Grants from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Office of Litter <br />Prevention and Recycling. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, litter is unsightly, unsanitary and creates blighting <br />conditions; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Lakewood City Council recognizes the existence of a <br />lit5er problem within the boundaries of the City of Lakewood and the <br />need to address the programs; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, recycling reduces the volume of municipal solid waste <br />and recovers natural resources; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this resolution constitutes an emergency measure <br />providing for the immediate preservation of the public health, safety <br />and welfare and for the further reason that the funds are available. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Ohio Litter Control Act of 1980 provides, through <br />the Department of Natural Resources, Division of Litter Prevention and <br />Recycling for the purpose of allocation of funds in the form of grants <br />for the purposes of supplemental local litter prevention and recycling <br />programs. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor are hereby <br />authorized and directed to submit the necessary applications for and <br />enter into an agreement with and to budget and administer all grants <br />received from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, Office of <br />Litter Prevention and Recycling allocated from the Litter Control Act <br />of 1980. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That this Council and the Mayor hereby endorses <br />and supports a Litter Prevention and Recycling Program for the City <br />of Lakewood and authorizes the necessary funds to implement said <br />program, if approved, as indicated in its application. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
