RESOLUTION NO. 6756-92 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br />Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION designating and proclaiming the month of <br />October as National Crime Prevention Month in the City of Lakewood. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it has been proved that community crime and drug <br />prevention efforts are reducing victimization and helping to rebuild a sense <br />of mutual responsibility and shared pride in community; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, successful crime and drug prevention programs <br />depend on effective partnerships among law enforcement, concerned <br />individuals, governmental agencies, schools, community groups, businesses, <br />and neighbors; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, crime and drug prevention are more than <br />self-protection and security, but encompass the promotion of positive <br />alternatives to delinquency and drug use among young people and encourage <br />youth to recognize their personal stake in their schools and neighborhoods; <br />and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, it is essential to raise" poublic!awareness of crime <br />and drug prevention and ~ncrease lnvolvement--in_...e/-ime prevention and <br />related community service programs. <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor support the goals <br />of the National Crime Prevention Council and designate and proclaim <br />the month of October as National Crime Prevention Month in the City of <br />Lakewood. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is hereby <br />authorized and directed to forward a certified ' ~ution to the <br />National Crime Prevention Council, ~, I~W, Secbnd Floor, <br />Washington, D.C. 20006-3817, and t~ ~f ~his R~solutio~/ be spread <br />upon the minutes of this meeting.
