RESOLUTION NO. <br /> <br />6810-93 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher <br />George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION extending congratulations to SS. Cyril <br />and Methodius Church on their 90th anniversary. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, on August 3, 1903 the first Mass was held in <br />the parish house of SS. Cyril and Methodius fulfilling the <br />founding fathers dream of organizing a Catholic Church to <br />service the ethnic population moving into eastern <br />Lakewood, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the murals on this impressive Lombardic <br />design church, which stands at the same site of the <br />original church, tell the story of the Slav nation and its <br />conversion by SS. Cyril & Methodius, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, SS. Cyril & Methodius Church has over the <br />years and continues to serve the spiritual, educational <br />and social needs of its congregation which presently <br />numbers 1200 families, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, this City joins the many friends of SS. <br />Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in congratulating the <br />Church on this special occasion and wishes SS. Cyril and <br />Methodius continued years of growth and inspirational <br />leadership in the City of Lakewood; now, therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby <br />extend to SS. Cyril & Methodius Church their <br />congratulations, and that of all the citizens of the <br />LaXewood community on the occasion of its 90th <br />anniversary. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy <br />of this Resolution 'to Father Richard J. Ondreyka MS, <br />Pastor, SS.
