RESOLUTION NO. 6811-93 <br /> <br />BY: Boscia, Gallagher, George, <br />Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION commending Cleveland Mayor Michael R. <br />White for his leadership and encouraging Congressman. <br />Martin Hoke, Senators John H. Glenn and Howard M. <br />Metzenbaum to assist in obtaining the Defense Finance and <br />Accounting Service's (DFAS) consolidated payroll and <br />accounting center for the Greater Cleveland area. <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, success in the joint efforts of Cleveland <br />Mayor Michael R. White and many others will result in <br />Greater Cleveland gaining 2,500 new, well-paying jobs, and <br />failure will result in the loss of 1,500 jobs, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, Mayor Michael R. White has demonstrated his <br />leadership in initiating and coordinating the efforts to <br />obtain this important source of employment and revenue for <br />the area, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Lakewood encourages Congressman <br />Martin Hoke, Senators John H. Glenn and Howard M. <br />Metzenbaum and Cleveland Mayor Michael White to continue <br />their work in obtaining these jobs for the Greater <br />Cleveland area, and; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, we encourage the citizens of the City of <br />Lakewood to support these efforts to secure the center, <br />now therefore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby <br />offer their commendations to Cleveland Mayor Michael R. <br />White for his leadership and Congressman Martin Hoke and <br />Senators John H, Glenn and Howard M. Metzenbaum for their <br />encouragement, to secure the Defense Finance and <br />Accounting Service's (DFAS) consolidated payroll and <br />accounting center for the Greater Cleveland area. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy <br />of this Resolution to Cleveland Mayor Michael R. White, <br />Congressman Martin Hoke, Senators John H. Glenn and Howard <br />M. Metzenbaum and that a copy of this Resolution be spread <br />upon the minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br /> Section 3.
