RESOLUTION NO. 6829-93 <br /> <br /> BY: Boscia, Gallagher, <br />George, Gibbons, Roth, Seelie, Smith <br /> <br /> A RESOLUTION to commend the St. Edward High School <br />Eagles varsity wrestling team on their outstanding 1993 season <br />and their strength of spirit and faith; <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the 1993 St. Edward Eagles captured their i7th <br />consecutive Division I District championship, sent seven <br />wrestlers to the State championships and placed 3rd overall in <br />the State; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the seven Eagles to advance to the state meet <br />included Eddie Jayne, Brad Clement, Sam Neider and Luis Santiago, <br />all district champions, as well as Bo Connor, Robert Hatta and <br />'Jim Wallace; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />Greg 'Urbas; and <br /> <br />the Eagles' success was guided by. head coach <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, junior Eddie Jayne (119 lbs.) with an overall <br />record of 37-0, took 1st place at the State meet to become the <br />sixth two-time consecutive champion in St. Edward history and <br />earn the 37th individual title by an Eagle; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, junior Sam Neider (171 lbs.), with an overall <br />record of 36-2, took 1st place to earn the 38th individual title <br />by an Eagle; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the Eagles demonstrated personal strength, <br />fortitude of spirit and faithful compassion worthy of men beyond <br />their years as they pulled together in the face of a concurrent <br />and devastating personal loss and tragedy; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, the St. Edward Eagles, through their <br />athleticism, composure and strength of faith, have brought <br />distinction and honor not only to themselves but to our entire <br />community; <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF LAKEWOOD, STATE OF OHIO: <br /> <br /> Section 1. That this Council and the Mayor hereby <br />extend to the St. Edward Eagles its commendation, and that of all <br />the citizens of the Lakewood Community for their outstanding <br />athletic achievements during the 1993 high school wrestling <br /> <br />season. <br /> <br /> Section 2. That the Clerk of Council be and she is <br />hereby authorized and directed to forward a certified copy of <br />this Resolution to the St. Edward High School Eagles Wrestling <br />Team, c/o Coach Greg Urbas 13500 Detroit Av~Lakewood, ohio <br />44107, and that a copy of thl~.~~upon the <br />minutes of the meeting. <br /> <br />Approved: <br /> <br />CLERK <br /> <br /> <br />
